WPP’s gender mainstreaming activities are related to the ongoing effort of mainstreaming gender in all IFOR structures and Programs, and a pilot project for a gender sensitive peacebuilding intervention, in order to investigate and promote a gender perspective in civilian-based peacekeeping.
While gender mainstreaming in general is ongoing by way of training and information provision beyond strict IFOR contacts, progress in terms of gender mainstreaming within IFOR is also made.

An explicit gender policy has been introduced and approved in IFOR’s Council, and the debate in IFOR Branches, Groups and Affiliates (BGAs) about the meaning of gender mainstreaming in relation to non-violence reconciliation and peace building based on active non-violence is ongoing.
