Sustaining Women's Organizations

For sustainable peace, a broad audience must be reached. Women’s organizations are often strategically placed to reach many different segments of civil society, and creatively combine peacebuilding in development work. Such networks are crucial in promoting gender equality, and in mobilizing and sustaining women for active roles in civil society.

IFOR has forged partnerships with community-based women’s groups through its branches and through the wider network of women’s groups involved in WPP trainings and regional consultations. The WPP will continue to provide support to women’s CSOs by:

Active outreach to women civil society leaders to participate in WPP trainings

Responding to requests for information on gender and peacebuilding, and on women’s roles in peacebuilding

Linking women’s organizations with resources such as funding agencies; securing computer equipment and on-line capabilities, and finding the requested technical and financial support for income generating projects and marketing

Linking women’s organizations to already established networks that can support them in peacebuilding.
