Women Peacemakers and U.N. Security Council Resolution 1325

UN Resolution 1325 was passed in 2000. Resolution 1325 is a powerful tool for all women peacemakers.
It demands gender mainstreaming throughout the UN system and urges all UN member states:
to increase the number of women at all decision-making levels in conflict prevention,
     management and resolution
to increase support for women’s peacebuilding activities
to support equal participation for women in peace negotiations at all levels
to address the specific protection needs of women in conflict situations
to prosecute war crimes against women.
