Women Peacemakers and U.N. Security Council Resolution 1325
UN Resolution 1325 was passed in 2000. Resolution 1325 is a powerful
tool for all women peacemakers.
It demands gender mainstreaming throughout the UN system and urges
all UN member states: to increase the
number of women at all decision-making levels in conflict prevention,
management and resolution to increase support
for women’s peacebuilding activities to support equal
participation for women in peace negotiations at all levels to address the
specific protection needs of women in conflict situations to prosecute war
crimes against women.
