Fellowship of Reconciliation India - Climate Cafe! Discussions over a cup of Chai !

Our Friends from FOR- INDIA are also planning many events and activities surrounding climate change and COP-26.

You can visit their website for more information on the organization and find ways to contact hem.

They urge anyone interested ins peaking about climate change matter, to pass by and have a cup of Chai.

Discussion of climate change over a cup of tea- Chai pe charcha- Climate Cafe India, and in particular, where we are located now in Kerala has faced a series of natural disasters- from drought to floods, from landslips leading to destruction of lives, livelihood and property to outbreak of contagious diseases, from fear of the known and even greater fear of the unknown.

Everyone has something to say about the climate change and the situation we are in but all mainstream discussions are always dominated by scientists and policy makers in the government while the opinion of common people are rarely heard.

Why should we leave the discussions on climate change to politicians and subject experts? Specially so when almost every part of the world is reporting sudden floods, fires, rivers overflowing, drought, pandemic and threats to the coastal cities due to global warming. Surely all of us at some point has felt that the powers of the government have limitations and all people have a stake in their own security and well being.

The concept of Climate Cafe was introduced by Rebecca Nestor from Climate Psychology Alliance at Oxford in the United Kingdom where any one could join and talk about climate and the problems caused by climate change.

The venue is small inexpensive cafés ( in our own environment at the benches of Thatta-Kadas over Suleimeni Chai or tea) where a free flow of discussions without any chief guest, advise, admonishment ,no canvassing to be any part of any protest and no pressure to change the way you think is respected.

The idea is to: 'Just say what you have to say over a cup of tea and deepen your involvement with the baby steps of knowing others to have views on the happenings around'.
